"Planting Flowers in Mid-Air"

Married into life
a first breath of love-
swallowed
Not knowing if you’ll choke

Paths paved in amethyst and rose
sometimes withering away
Simple words of deep meaning-
transmuted to rust
Name forgotten
in shadows of a noisy death

Sometimes truth stares us in the face
so bitter, without impression of warmth
and summer’s rays fail
to melt the pain
Temptation to run
Deep desire to cling

Black eyes searching
a heart that lost
and the voice I hear
is inside of me
Needing to be saved

The meadow, still
Daunted by winter’s liar
Tears shed in watermarks
as dreams are subdued
Painful whispers extracted
as I let go
Melancholy wings
float in chants of the wind
A flight from your heart

I’ll plant flowers in mid air
and look into distant sunsets
in remembrance-
of where we began
