Neither sun nor moon
Illuminates my course
Vastness approaches
I seek refuge

Visibility blind

Airless fear, I tremble
Adrenaline’s power running through
A lonely realm
Forever seeking a safe haven
An elusive summit
Obscure in my embrace
Terror tries to devour me
Yet I remain
Demon within
I cannot expel
Impaled without warning
A battle I did not request
Fervent in my plea
For this journey to end
Donning a mask of affliction
Instilled by society’s rejection
Existence colored by scorn
Prejudice in their assumptions
My suffering is real
Behind a shattered window pane
Look closer
I was once like you

Now I’m only a reflection of…
Dim-remembered yesterdays
Of life…
Travels far away
Smell of salty sea air
Breathtaking sunsets and rainbows
Present in the dawn and the wind
Magnificent in forests dense
Standing on top of blue mountain’s haze
Like a bird in the sky…
I ran free
Held now only in dreams
Silent in my yearning
Of freedom…
