"Sweet Release"

Ghosts of the past
A mingling of differing emotions
They haunted me-
in restive slumber
my waking thoughts ragged

Thirsting for abiding love
an inebriated soul walking
on streets of deception
Unwrapped and forgotten-
through chapters gone astray

My grave dug so deep
I forgot the scent of spring
Mummified within a tomb-
of pungent memoirs

Two paths are bestowed-
to cling to what I cannot change
or savor the infinite tomorrows
and allow my spirit to be unchained

Even death cannot erase history
But life shall not wilt
the beauty that remains
as waterfalls transform pain-
into fountains of hope'
and ardent sun dries-
ancient tears

A final glance-
no melancholy farewell
Adorned not in shades of black
I will rejoice in radiant color
As LOVE ultimately fills the space
where the ghosts lie dormant
And I shall descend as a dove
to the beckoning rustle of silvery wings
and behold the dawn of-

Sweet release
