"As the Storm Approached"
Sitting on the bank, a storm approaching
Tears streaming down his face
Flowing into the black velvet night
Dark and forbidding
Holding its beauty, fearing its strength
A vision not so clear
Memories of yesterday’s dream
Anticipation of tomorrow’s mystery
Remembering the pleasures
Footprints fraught with pain
An audacity of conscience
Indistinguishable emotions
A voice rendering the night’s air
An echo of his woeful scream
Jagged edges tearing at his soul
Lightning luminous of a man’s heart
Many losses, much longing
Many twisted paths leading him there
Stormy winds, blowing up the breezes
In the midst seeking meaning to his life
Reaching inside deeper
Basking in the visage of fate
His eyes close heavy-laden
Wanting to feel the sun again
To awaken the melody of his unsung life
To feel another’s touch
To smell the fragrant morning dew
Silence listened to, revealing the inner voice
The storm calms to a motionless perfection
Finding inner sanctum
His heart becomes aware
The answers lie beneath his own skin
Feeble lips whispering low
Clarity of solace
Discovering himself in the midst of the storm
